Hi! I’m Lies, founder of Soulstride Africa
For two years, I traveled and worked at various horse-focused places across Southern Africa. I got to know the people behind the safaris: the guides, the teams, the horses, the landscapes. Not as a tourist, but as a colleague and part of daily life. That connection, that authenticity - that’s what I want to share through Soulstride.

I don’t own my own horses and usually only ride once or twice a week, so I was looking for a trip where I could combine riding with groundwork and learning more about horse care. Lies introduced me to the concept of a working riding holiday and helped me find the perfect fit. She took the time to talk me through different options and, because she had first-hand experience with the destinations, gave me a really clear picture of what to expect. The Wild Coast team (both people and horses) were amazing. I got to ride lots of different horses, build my confidence on the trails and develop my groundwork and horse care skills. The team were incredibly welcoming and made me feel at home from day one.
After two weeks, I’d settled into the routines, fallen in love with Kei Mouth, and with one particular horse. I only wish I could have stayed longer!
